     "The Walt Disney Company operates as a diversified entertainment company worldwide.  It operates in four segments: Media Networks, Parks and Resorts, Studio Entertainment, and Consumer Products." Entertainment is Disney's primary purpose.
     Media Networks division operates ABC Television Network, responsible for 226 affiliated stations, and ABC Radio Network, which handles ABC News Radio as well as other "news networks programming, syndicated talk and music programs, ABC Sports programming, and 24-hour music and talk formats to approximately 4,800 affiliated radio stations."
     On top of all this, the Media segment also produces Radio Disney along with a 24-hour talk and music format.
     "The Parks and Resorts castlesegment owns and operates the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California."  Theme parks, resort hotels, a sports, retail, dining, and entertainment complex, conference centers, campgrounds, and golf courses, represent just what this division offers.
     In the Studio Entertainment field, Disney produces, acquires, and releases, animated and live-action motion pictures to television, home video, and theatrical markets.  stageStage and musical recordings endeavors are also accomplished.
     The Consumer Products area licenses characters and other intellectual properties of Walt Disney "to manufactures, retailers, show promoters, and publishers worldwide."  Computer software products are included as well.

     Corporate Responsilbility is key to the Walt Disney Company and involves six different categories, ethics, corporate governance, community, environmental and labor standards, and safety.
     Disney products range from children's toys to pooh toasters with the Disney logo embedded.  Films and cartoons expand upon this list tremendously.  The Disney Channel channeloffers programs such as "Lilo and Stitch: The Series," "Lizzie McGuire," and "That's so Raven." 
     Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, and Miramax, are three of the Walt Disney Company's film studios.  While Walt Disney Pictures concentrates on the younger audiences, Touchstone and Miramax tackle the adult population.
     A&E, The History Channel, E! and Buena Vista, are examples among the many subsidiaries owned by Disney.

     Without a doubt Disney is a very immense and successful conglomerate.  With it's purchase back in 1995 of ABC and with strong grasps in the music, merchandise, video, theatical, theme park, television, etc, realms, Disney not only seems to be doing  quite well but, they also have managed to have a diversion in nearly every market.
     Globalization? Yes.  Not only does Disney have theme parks in Florida and in California, but in Tokyo and Paris as well.  Mickey Mouse, the rodent we have all learned to appreciate, is the second most recognizable symbol in the world - behind, McDonald's 'Golden Arches.'
     Disney has horizontally integrated with its many television channels, movie studios, resorts and radio stations, and more.  Basically, Disney has ensured themselves in as many entertainment fields as possible; and there are no reports as to stopping anytime soon.
     As far as vertical integation, the purchase of ABC allows Disney, an entertainment company, to have more powerful capability to get their product out and in turn, profit.
     Disney synergies include toy distribution through McDonald's happy meals, Disney's past involvement with Pixar, and with one of its newest establishments, Hong Kong Disneyland.  The financial secretary of Hong Kong, Henry Tang, announced that this would benefit greatly in both employment opportunities for Hong Kong and revenue, pulling in around $19 billion over
the next 40 years.
